Welcome to the September edition of EUpdate. Firstly I would like to draw your attention to our new website which has an exciting new look, friendly navigation and is packed full of relevant industry information. I'm pleased to announce you will be able to read about the first accreditation given for the Recognition of Learning Programme - a programme setup to identify those engaged in live gas works are appropriately qualified. What's more, in this edition you will be able to view a new video that we have developed to highlight the benefits for our Workforce Planning Model. The Model has been designed to predict change in our industries and identify where the skills gaps are going to be and how we can work together now to avoid these.

Energy & Utility Skills (EU Skills) has recently implemented its new workforce planning model, which helps organisations to understand and quantify workforce leavers, it also determines how and when they will need to be replaced. The model is designed to predict changes in our industry and does this by combining company data, which then produces forecasts of the skills challenges over the next 15 years. More...

| EU Skills launches new website

EU Skills has launched an exciting new website,
designed with a vibrant new look, it is user friendly and packed full of relevant industry information. The website will also contain its own news portal, allowing EU Skills to keep its Members abreast of all up to the minute news. “The new website will be a great asset to our communications,” said Andrea Allison, Head of Communications, EU Skills. “Members will be able to navigate the new site more easily than before. The website will also contain links to the careers micro site, up to date industry specific information and access to the wider political arena. We’re confident that our new website will help us effectively communicate to the utility industry the benefits of Membership to EU Skills. The EU Skills website will include an improved training provider search facility, more resources for individuals, employers, training providers, teachers and parents.

| This year's EU Skills Annual General Meeting (AGM) will take place on Tuesday 5th October at the Energy & Utility Skills office in Shirley. All member companies have been invited to attend where we would like to share with you our plans; how we will build on our achievements to date and encourage collaborative employer action which will ensure the long-term skills needs of the sector are addressed.
